dingell, democrat from michigan and he has been serving since 1955. previouslpreviousl y his father sanded -- served in the same congressional district until his father died in the sun ran and took his place. dingell is, used to be thought of as illiberal and no one thinks of him as a liberal and certainly the democrats don't because they marginalize him. and yet thank you has proven and i show it throughout the book that even with the democrats in the minority and even with him being removed from the pecking order power, they want to get things done. this why the guy knows how to pull strings on behalf of the district to get parts appropriated to get bills passed and he passed his pipeline safety bill which is essentially a regulation bill during the tea party congress. it's almost unheard of, but dingell is i think a dying breed. his philosophy is, you govern from the center. you begin writing a bill from the center which means you bring everybody on board, put them in a room and talk about what they like. it's not the way it works in today zero some policy where their idea now the rep

who says it doesn't meet the test of balance. michigan governor rick snyder has vetoed a bill that would have allowed people to carry concealed weapon into a formerly gun-free zones like churches and schools. the michigan state legislature passed the law on thursday. but in the wake of friday's tragedy in newtown governor snyder has called for a more thorough review of the law. we need more thorough review of gun violence-related issues. he says the concealed carry bill needs to be looked at in a more comprehensive context. now this particular move is welcome news. however, "the huffington post" points out that snyder did find two other laws, one streamlines the process for buying handguns and the other gets rid of restrictions for rifle and shot gunn transactions between people in michigan and neighboring states. and florida governor rick scott insists though he complied with the law he's now going to look into the problems the state had during the past election. including the number of voting days being restricted

half of the country. it's snowy across michigan right now where most of the cold air is located. elsewhere we are seeing freezing rain in central and northern new england. rain moving through massachusetts right now, sprinkling in new york city. some heavier rain in southern ohio. the big story is the winter weather out through montana, through the dakotas and eventually spreading east into minnesota and eventually wisconsin later today. because of that we do have winter storm warnings and advisories all across the northern tier of the country, the northern rockies, back into idaho. we are going to see some of that snow continue to fall throughout the day. it doesn't look too bad now but we will see it intensify and also some isolated blizzard warnings across the northern rockies as well. once those winds pick up and visibility reduced. billings, montana, 25 degrees, 43 in chicago and northeast, even boston, we'll top out around 46 degrees today. while it is snowing across the northern rockies, no snow across the northeast. instead showery this morning. some improvements this af

, minnesota, wisconsin and northern michigan. ironically, the blizzard warning was not the area where we saw most of the snow. winds are gusty. because of that, it's tossing around the snow and we are seeing reduced visibility still at this point in south dakota. the heaviest of the snow is falling through minneapolis right now. that scenario, we are likely to pick up six to nine inches of snow. duluth, minnesota will pick up anywhere from six to nine inches if a heavier batch of snowfalls. it spreads eastward into wisconsin. for the game later tonight in green bay, it looks like there will be four inches of snow on the ground. elsewhere, we have this cold front. it's all connected. it's cold on the northern side of the front and obviously where we have the thunderstorms develop, there's a chance of severe weather across tennessee into alabama, mississippi later on today and we could end up seeing tonight an isolated tornado or two. we have cold weather to the north and severe storms tonight. thams? >> she says they love that snow. four inches for them, no big deal. >> good stuff. >> thanks
